Apostille for Turkey | Apostille
Stamp Turkey

Turkey has become the destination of Indians because of its natural beauty and cultural significance. Apostille for Turkey in India means getting the apostille attestation stamped on your document for use in Turkey.

Once the apostille is stamped on your document by the Ministry of external affairs in India it will become legally valid for use in Turkey. The legalization of documents with an apostille is possible because both India and Turkey are Hague Convention on Apostille countries.

What is Apostille?

Apostille is a certification issued by the Ministry of external affairs in India pasted as a stamp on the backside of the original document. This stamping makes the document an authenticated certificate which can be used as a legal document in other Hague countries.

Until the Hague Convention on apostille in 1961, countries needed multiple certifications from various authorities to check the legality of a document issued in another country.

Hague Convention on apostille abolished the requirement of legalization for foreign public documents. Thus, apostille attestation from a designated authority became the only requirement for the legalization of documents.

How to Get an Apostille for the Republic of Türkiye

In India we have two procedures to get an apostille attestation certificate for your documents to use in Turkey.

  1. State Attestation Method
  2. SDM Attestation Method

State Attestation Method for Türkiye Apostille

State attestation method is the process where the state government authority that issued the document verifies the authenticity of the certificate. In India for certain documents which come under the purview of the state government, the MEA mandates the state government verification.

In this method of verification the secretary of the district from where the document issued verifies the validity and origin of the document and its signature/seal. Subsequently, the state HRD ministry places a stamp on the document. Finally, the document reaches the Ministry of External Affairs where they verify the document and place an apostille stamp.

This method involves various government departments. Hence, the whole process takes around 30 days.
